The important distinction is not the word microfibre on its own, but whether the cloth is intended for optical use and how it is used, cared for and stored.
It is useful to distinguish an optical cleaning cloth from general-purpose household microfibre. Products described simply as microfibre can be manufactured for many different jobs, from domestic cleaning to automotive detailing.

Everyday lens care
The cloth itself needs to stay clean.
