Optical Cloth

Barroccu & Co creates oversized optical cloths for glasses, camera lenses, screens and delicate surfaces. Each cloth is made from high-quality microfibre and designed to feel substantial, clean effectively, and give you more usable surface area than the small cloths often supplied with glasses.

At 43 × 30 cm, our optical cloths are intentionally larger than standard lens cloths. The larger format makes it easier to clean lenses properly, reduce repeated wiping, and keep fingerprints, oils and dust under control.

A good optical cloth should not simply move dirt around. It should lift contamination away from the surface, feel smooth in the hand, and be washable so it can remain effective over time.

Why a Quality Optical Cloth Matters

Modern glasses, sunglasses and camera lenses often use delicate coatings. When a cloth is too small, dirty or poor quality, oils and residue can spread across the surface instead of being removed. This is one reason lenses can look clean for a moment and then quickly become smeared again.

A larger, washable optical cloth gives you more clean surface area to work with. This helps reduce the need for repeated wiping and makes it easier to lift fingerprints, grease and dust away from the lens surface.

How Barroccu & Co Microfibre Is Made

Barroccu & Co works with a specialist microfibre factory to produce a base fabric woven from polyester and nylon composite yarn. The fabric is then treated to open and split the fibres, creating finer strands with a dense structure designed to lift and hold grease, moisture and particles away from the surface.

Each microfibre is exceptionally fine, leaving the fabric soft and flexible. A specialist shrinking process creates a denser finish, increasing the surface area of the cloth and helping improve particle removal.

This high-density structure gives the cloth its smooth feel and effective cleaning performance. It is suitable for everyday use on prescription glasses, sunglasses, camera lenses, screens, watches, jewellery and other delicate surfaces.

Washable, Reusable and Made to Last

A quality optical cloth should not be treated as disposable. Barroccu & Co optical cloths are washable and reusable, helping them stay effective over time when cared for properly.

Washing the cloth helps remove built-up oils and contamination from the fibres. This matters because a saturated or dirty cloth can start to redistribute residue instead of lifting it away.
