How to clean Gucci sunglasses and glasses
Gucci’s published sunglasses guidance calls for gentle cloth cleaning, with mild detergent and moisture when needed, while excluding harsh solvents. Follow the instructions supplied with your particular frame. For prescription lenses, also follow your optician’s advice.
- Check before wiping. Inspect the lenses and cloth for grit or other particles. Do not rub visible debris across a lens.
- Use a clean, soft cloth. Work gently, supporting the frame rather than pressing on decorative details or bending the arms.
- Use moisture only as directed. Where your model’s instructions permit it, use a damp cloth with a mild detergent for residue. Do not substitute household glass cleaner.
- Dry gently. Use a fresh, soft section of cloth. If smearing continues, check the cloth for oil build-up instead of increasing pressure.
- Return the eyewear to its case. Keep the clean, dry cloth stored separately from loose items that could soil it.
Alcohol, acetone and decorative finishes
Gucci’s cited guidance advises against alcohol, acetone and aggressive detergents. Do not assume that a cleaner suitable for a prescription lens is also suitable for the frame, its finish or embellishments. Ask your optician when instructions differ.

A cloth can collect oils and residue during cleaning. If it begins to smear, wash it according to its care instructions rather than repeatedly wiping with the same soiled surface.
Let it dry completely before putting it back in its pouch. The pouch is for storing the cloth; it does not replace a glasses case.
