How these cloths are designed to be used
Modern lenses are coated to improve clarity and reduce reflections. These coatings are extremely thin and are most affected by repeated friction over time, not by a single cleaning moment.
Most marks, haze, or streaking appear after cleaning because small cloths concentrate pressure and redistribute oils rather than removing them. Wiping more often or with greater force usually makes this worse.
